Hi!  I’m so glad you stopped by…

My name is YeseniaSt. Stephen Church, and I’m the mama of My Fateful Family.  I’m also a traditional Catholic entrusted with a large family, and I’m deeply in love with my Lord and His Church.  I live in the beautiful state of California where I was born and raised, and I’m very passionate about many things, including my love for my family, friends, and all people.  My amazing husband and I have been married since 1997, and we have six children together.  So that was the short version.  If you want to know the very long version and you have an hour to spare, the About Me page is a lot more revealing…

For years, I’ve kept a journal the old-fashioned way, where I’ve tried to record the ordinary and simple day-to-day events and conversations that take place in our family’s life so that I don’t forget them.  Recently, while sorting and going through some of these journal entries, my husband encouraged me to share some of them privately on my personal Facebook page.  It turns out that, as simple as these stories are, some of my friends were relating to them and the struggles and joys that come with raising a large family.

Well, three of those friends encouraged me to start this blog, and since each one of those friends is worth a million, I can say that three million of my friends thought it would be a good idea to start this blog, so that’s why I’m here.

Now, I hope you’re a forgiving reader because, although I enjoy writing, I’m just a simple mom who likes rambling on about the family I love and adore.  I like sharing my experiences as a mother because I learn a lot from others when I do, but I find it much easier to share my mistakes and give others my unsolicited two cents’ worth on how not to do things, in hopes that I’ll save others the trouble of having to learn things the hard way, like I do.

One of the things I’ve learned, is that to try and keep myself joyful and sane for the most part of my day, I have to laugh more and have a good sense of humor when it comes to parenting, and I hope I can somehow convey the importance of that in this blog.  I still have so much to learn, but I’ve almost mastered the art of finding humor in even the smallest situations that would make most parents cringe.  With that being said, I have really found myself laughing a lot lately.

If you found this blog through our family’s business website over at My Faithful Planner, you probably already noticed that our company logo and the one for this blog looks almost identical.  When trying to name this blog, it turns out that all of the awesome and catchy names were already taken, so instead, I had the idea of making this blog a spin-off or a parody-version, if you will, of our family business, hence the similar logo.  Since I own the trademark, it was the easiest thing to do.

Here comes the shameless plug… Now, if you didn’t land on this blog through our family business website, you should check it out!  We make personalized planners inspired by our Catholic Faith, and it’s been a family project we’ve enjoyed working on together.

Now that our family has this blog, my hope is that when you read any of these simple stories, you find yourself thinking, “Oh, wow.  Yesenia and I share some of the same struggles, and I bet her house is messier than mine, but if God can have that much mercy on her and still continue to lovingly pour out His grace throughout her waking hours so she can manage to remain grateful and joyful at the end of her day, I definitely can, too.”

The truth is, we’re just an ordinary family with an extraordinary God!
